Gardai issue forgery warning

Three men remain in custody following the discovery of a large quantity of forged €50 notes in Co Meath yesterday.

Gardai were alerted when a number of the fake €50 notes were passed in Navan.

The men were apprehended as they drove through the village of Kells yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, gardai in Cork have warned retailers to be extra vigilant following the seizure in Cork city of thousands of euro worth of fake €50 notes.

The forgeries which were discovered in the Holly Hill area of the city, have been sent for forensic examination.
