DUP 'will try to block First Minister election'
The Democratic Unionist Party will try to prevent the election of a First Minister in the Northern Ireland Assembly following the next Stormont election, a senior member of the Rev Ian Paisley’s party said tonight.
East Derry MP Gregory Campbell said the party would use its mandate to prevent the election in the Assembly of the First and Deputy First Ministers in a bid to force a renegotiation of the Good Friday agreement.
