Brennan: CIE monopoly is over

The Minister for Transport has said today that the days of CIE's transport monopoly are over.

Seamus Brennan says however that he remains available for talks with unions to discuss plans to break up the company.

But unions are insisting that they will fight the dissolution of CIE.

The National Bus and Rail Workers Union is calling a four-hour stoppage this Wednesday in protest.

It's expected to paralyse national and city bus and rail services on Wednesday.

Minister Brennan says reform of our out of date transport system is long overdue.
