Dail to seek explanation of An Post decision
The Dail's communications committee is to ask An Post management to a explain its decision to end door-to-door deliveries in certain areas.
Under the plan, post would be left in secure boxes at the end of driveways rather than being delivered direct to the front door.
The company said the change could save it more than €20m.
The public has until the end of this month to lodge objections with the communications regulator, who has the final say on the matter.
Noel O'Flynn, the chairman of the Dail's communications committee, said he wants assurances that the measure would not compromise security or affect services to the elderly.
