The Irish Nurses Organisation is demanding assurances from the Minister for Health that round-the-clock staffing of A&E units will be maintained.

It follows yesterday's announcement by the Royal College of Surgeons that junior doctors will not be trained in A&E units unless they are headed by a consultant.
