TD calls for drug-driving testing

A Fianna Fail TD has this morning called for the introduction of roadside testing for so-called drug-driving.

The demand comes after the reduction of road deaths in recent months thanks to the introduction of the penalty points system.

Jim Glennon insists that it is time to tackle the phenomenon of drug-driving now that drink driving has been confronted.

He says that there is now increasing use of drugs by drivers on the roads.

The TD has stressed that the use of drugs has the same effect as drinking alcohol and driving.
