The man convicted of killing Garda Jerry McCabe has tied the knot in a ceremony in Co. Cavan.

Pearse McCauley received temporary release from Castlerea open prison for the big day.

His bride is Sinn Fein councillor Pauline Tully and the wedding took place at the church in her hometown of Kilnaleck in Co. Cavan.

Security was provided by their family, his brother manned the door and neither the bride nor groom spoke to journalists at the front of the church.

The priest told the congregation not to take photos during the service.
