Fishing blockades continue

Foreign fisherman are being blocked from entering Irish ports in the south and west.

Fisherman are continuing their blockade of ports following the announcement of plans to open up the Irish box to even more foreign fleets.

The ports of Fenit and Dingle in Co Kerry, Castletownbere in Co Cork and Rossaveal in Co Galway are being blockaded by Irish fishermen.

They say no foreign vessels will be allowed to dock there.

Fishermen are pledging to continue their action until at least next Thursday when a meeting is planned between fishing industry representatives and the Minister for the Marine.
