Investigation underway into death of arrested teen
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager arrested in Dublin who died last night in hospital.
A Garda Press Office statement said that in the early hours of St Stephen's Day, a 19-year-old male was arrested in the Dolphin's Barn area for public order offences and brought to Kilmainham Garda Station.
He was later removed by ambulance to Saint James Hospital where he subsequently died.
A post-mortem was carried out at the City Morgue, Marino today by Dr. Maire Cassidy, Assistant State Pathologist.
Toxicology reports are awaited before definite results are known.
Assistant Commissioner Tony Hickey of the Dublin Metropolitan Region has appointed a Detective Superintendent to investigate the circumstances of this death.
The name of the dead man is not being released until all relatives have been informed.
