Pedestrian killed in Co Monaghan road accident

A man in his 20s has died after being struck by a car on the N2 in Co Monaghan this morning.

The accident happened at Aghavilla in Carrickmacross at around 3.45am. The two occupants of the vehicle were treated for shock.

Gardai have yet to identify the dead man, whose body was taken to Cavan General Hospital.
