Fishermen to hold crisis talks to discuss cuts
Fishermen are holding crisis talks in Castletownbere in Co Cork later today to discuss the drastic cuts imposed on them by the European Commission.
As a result of the cuts fishing in some sections of the Irish box will be reduced to 9 days per month and cod fishing slashed to 45%.
The imposition of cuts to prevent the possible collapse of stocks is expected to cause great hardship in coastal communities around the country.
