Latvian national due in court in connection with fatal stabbing
A Latvian national is due before Dublin District court in connection with the fatal stabbing of his flatmate at the weekend.
The 31-year-old victim was stabbed more than a dozen times. The severely injured man, also a Latvian national, was only discovered in his basement flat in Seville Place in the North inner city on Friday night when neighbours became suspicious and raised the alarm.
The victim, who suffered over a dozen stab wounds, was taken to hospital but efforts to save him failed.
It is thought he could have been lying injured for up to 24 hours. Gardai believe the drunken row was sparked over the payment of rent.
On Saturday afternoon Gardai arrested a 33-year-old man outside the hospital where he had sought treatment for head injuries.
He is due before the Dublin District court this morning in connection with his flatmate's death.
