Five seriously injured in four-car collision

Five people have been seriously injured in a four-car collision near Gyles Quay in Co Louth overnight.

The accident occurred shortly after 11pm on the Carlingford Road.

Emergency services from Dundalk, Drogheda and Monaghan were called to the scene to free some of those trapped in their vehicles.

It is understood a further six people were injured in the accident, although their conditions are not believed to be life threatening.
