Fine Gael Senator, Jim Higgins, is sharply criticising Garda plans to examine telephone and fax records in order to identify an informant.

The investigation relates to information communicated to Mr Higgins and Labour's Brendan Howlin regarding allegations of Garda misconduct in Donegal.
