Martin: Mother should not have been moved
Minister for Health Micheál Martin has said that he believes that no attempt should have been made to transfer Denise Livingston from Monaghan hospital when she arrived there in the later stages of labour.
Denise's baby was born as she was being transferred to Cavan hospital.
The infant died shortly after her arrival.
The Minister for Health says that one can only have the greatest of sympathy for Denise and her family.
The report by an independent review panel, which was published last night, found that no attempt should have been made to transfer the baby's mother between Monaghan General and Cavan Hospital.
This report contradicts an earlier report by the North Eastern Health Board.
