Gardai attend Glanmire incident

There have been reports of garda activity in the Sarsfield Industrial Estate in Glanmire near Cork city.

Garda sources have confirmed that there is activity in the area and at least one unit is attending the scene.

However, they could not confirm reports that the incident is related to the theft of €75,000 worth of lager from a storage container at Tivoli Docks on Tuesday night.

The gang drove into the Port of Cork-run dockyard, broke into a 40-foot-long container and loaded up a truck with around 45,000 cans of Heineken without being seen by security.

Gardai have described the robbery as "well planned and well executed".
