The Parents for Justice group, which represents the parents of children whose organs were retained without their permission, have called for Minister Micheál Martin to resign.

The Parents for Justice group, which represents the parents of children whose organs were retained without their permission, have called for Minister Micheál Martin to resign.

Spokeswoman Fionnuala O'Reilly says the Minister was "aggressive and confrontational" during a meeting this morning, and has constantly refused to establish a statutory inquiry into the matter.

She says his position is now untenable.

"We certainly do not believe that this Minister is fit to hold office because of his refusal to take acceptance for an enquiry process that he himself has established," she said.

"It is purely unacceptable to this organisation that the Minister has said that he cannot interfere in this inquiry process as independent. He, after all, established this inquiry."
