Monaghan family blame Government for death
The family of the baby, who died when her mother was turned away from her local hospital, has hit out at the Minister for Health and the North Eastern Health board.
The premature baby died when the mother was forced to travel to Cavan because the maternity unit in Monaghan General hospital was closed.
The department of health has ordered an inquiry. The baby's grandfather, Jimmy Livingstone, is in no doubt who is to blame.
"I hold two people to blame and to my dying day I will hold them to blame. And that is Michael Martin, our Minister for Health, and the Chief Executive of the North Eastern Health board.
"They are the two people that are the cause of us attending a funeral service at 3pm today."
