Gardai investigate assault in Galway

Gardai in Galway are investigating an assault on a 35-year-old man early this morning.

The assault happened at Foster Street in Galway at 1.15am.

The man was struck in the face and fell to the ground.

He was removed to University College Hospital Galway and subsequently transferred to Beaumount hospital in Dublin for further treatment.
