Murder investigation launched in Kilkenny

Gardai in Kilkenny have begun a murder enquiry into the death of a 36-year-old mother of two, who died in the city yesterday evening.

Emergency services responding to a fire call discovered the woman at the house shortly after 5pm.

She had received critical injuries to her head and body and was pronounced dead a short time later at St Luke’s Hospital. A post mortem will take place later today.

The woman, who was separated from her husband, had been living at the house on Greenfields Rd with her two teenage sons.

The house is now sealed off as detectives investigating the case search the area for forensic clues to the circumstances surrounding her death.
