Community group slams social welfare increase

Francis Byrne from the Community Platform says that she is outraged at the decisions taken by Charlie McCreevy in today's Budget.

The platform group represents voluntary groups at the social partnership talks.

Francis Byrne says that the €6 increase that has been announced in social welfare is a disgrace.

She insists that Mr McCreevy was just paying lip service.

The platform spokesperson says that the Minister has once again hit those on lowest incomes hardest.
