The wife of a Co Fermanagh businessman whose body was found in the Republic almost a year after he disappeared and her lover were today both found guilty of his murder.

The jury of five men and five women returned the verdict against Julie McGinley, 34 and Michael Monaghan, 44, at Belfast Crown Court.

They were on trial for killing Gerald McGinley whose remains were found buried in woods in Co Leitrim 10 months after he vanished in August 2000.

Monaghan slumped head in hands as the verdict was read out amid gasps from the dead man’s family in the public gallery.

But his co-accused showed no emotion as she was led from the dock.
