Gardai remove students from Govt Department
A number of students have been removed from the Department of Finance by the gardai after locking themselves into the front office.
The students were protesting at Government cutbacks in education.
The students gave themselves up after Departmental officials were authorised to force the door and they entered the room accompanied by gardai.
The names and addresses of all protesters were verified by gardai before they were escorted from the building.
There were no injuries and no arrests were made.
Today's action precedes a massive rally planned for tomorrow by thousands of students.
