The Supreme Court has ruled this afternoon that certain parts of the 1997 Electoral Act are unconstitutional.

In upholding a previous High Court decision, the ruling found outgoing TDs and Senators have an unfair advantage over non-Oireachtas members in terms of personal spending limits during an election.
