The Miss World Beauty Pageant is being moved from Nigeria to London following the outbreak of widespread rioting in which more than 100 people were killed.

The rioting was sparked by the publication of a newspaper article, which suggested that the Islamic prophet Mohammed would have chosen a wife from among the contestants.

It is believed that both Miss Ireland Linda Duffy and Miss Northern Ireland Julie Lee-Ann Martin had already decided to pull out of the competition. The Pageant is now expected to take place in London on December 7.
