Fine Gael tourism spokesman, Jimmy Deenihan TD today accused the Minister for Tourism of breaking an election promise, after today's proposal that the Torc Hotel in Killarney be sold off in early 2003.

"This announcement totally contradicts the Minister's commitment to the staff of the hotel, before the general election last May, that the hotel would not be sold off.

"If this Fianna Fail / Progressive Democrat Government has an ounce of decency it will keep its promise and direct Aer Rianta to abandon this proposal immediately."
