Speculation is growing that the Government may move to prevent people from topping up their Special Savings Investment Accounts ahead of budget day.

It is reported that the Finance Minister has been advised that moves to restrict the scheme can be back-dated, which would have the effect of savers making no gains by increasing contributions ahead of possible restrictions.
