Ahern defends savings scheme

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said he does not believe people will rush to increase their contributions to the Special Savings Incentive Scheme (SSIA).

Mr Ahern was responding to reports that participants in the SSIA could increase their monthly contributions in case the Government decides to cap such contributions in the near future.
