The Irish League of Credit Unions is demanding an urgent meeting with Finance Minister, Charlie McCreevy, over proposed changes to legislation governing credit unions.

The legislation was finalised last year, but the minister proposes to amend it.

The Irish League of Credit Unions says the changes could erode the volunteer and not-for profit status of credit unions.
