Shannon development plan given formal approval

A project worth almost €8m for the development of a river basin management system for the Shannon has received formal approval.

A project worth almost €8m for the development of a river basin management system for the Shannon has received formal approval.

It relates to agriculture, fisheries, flood management, habitat protection and tourism.

The project will be managed by local authorities in the region, including Limerick, Clare and Roscommon County Councils.

It has been approved by the Environment Minister, Martin Cullen.
