McGimpsey seeks inquiry into alleged IRA spying
Ulster Unionist Michael McGimpsey has called for a public inquiry into allegations of IRA intelligence gathering at Stormont.
Yesterday, the police said they had broken up an IRA spying operation following the arrest and charging of four people, including two with links to Sinn Fein, with possessing documents likely to be of use to terrorists.
The charges follow an investigation into documents seized during raids on republican areas of Belfast several weeks ago, some of which are believed to have been taken from the British Government's offices in Stormont.
Mr McGimpsey said today that a public inquiry is the only way to establish exactly what was going on.
