An Post accused of de-recognising IPU
The Irish Postmasters' Union has claimed that An Post has moved to de-recognise it as a trade union.
The IPU said An Post sent letters to all postmasters today informing them that it will only negotiate with them on an individual basis.
An Post has denied any such de-recognition and said it is merely withdrawing some of the services it provides to the IPU, which is currently involved in a dispute with management over pay and conditions.
As part of this dispute, postmasters will effectively shut down 540 rural post offices every Monday and Friday between now and Christmas.
