The Morris Tribunal has heard that an informer facing trial for making false statements to Gardai was asked to do so by his garda handler.

The Tribunal heard that William Doherty told the Carty Inquiry in 1999 that he was approached by Garda John O'Dowd and asked to make statements against Frank McBrearty Jnr and Mark McConnell.
