CSO figures confirm sharp economic downturn

The Irish economy grew by 2% in the first half of this year, according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.

The figures appear to confirm the sharp downturn in the economy and compare with growth of 6.4% in the first half of last year and 11% in the first half of 2000.
