Man due in court on false imprisonment charge

A man is due in court this morning on charges of false imprisonment after another man was found bound and gagged in the boot of a car in Dublin.

A 26-year-old Dublin man will appear Dublin District Court this morning charged with false imprisonment.

Gardaí at the Divisional Task Force at Santry stopped and searched a car on Glasnevin Avenue in Ballymun at 8pm last night when they discovered a man bound and gagged in the boot of a car.

It is believed that the man had been abducted earlier that day. He is being treated for minor injuries at Beaumont Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and detained at Santry garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and will appear in Dublin District Court at 10.30 am.
