Parties differ over intelligence-gathering plan

Political parties in the North have differed widely in their interpretation of yesterday's wide-ranging proposals on how police intelligence-gathering will be structured in future.

The SDLP says it means the dismantling of the ethos and culture of the old RUC Special Branch but Sinn Féin says the proposals do not go nearly far enough.
