Anti-Racist Workplace Week begins
The third annual Anti-Racist Workplace Week begins today with a host of events planned aimed at eradicating discrimination.
The event, organised by IBEC, the Construction Industry Federation and the Equality Authority in association with the National Anti-Racism Awareness Programme, will run from today to Friday, November 8.
This initiative builds on commitments made in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness (PPF).
It is not solely focussed on migrant workers, however, and also promotes tolerance in the workplace for religious minorities and members of the travelling community.
Events throughout the week include the presentation of SIPTU's first Equality Diversity Award and the publication of an Equality Authority Survey, which reveals significant numbers are not taking the necessary steps to address or avoid sexual harassment.
