Storms cut power to homes in the east

Households have lost their electricity this evening as storms cut power on the east part of the country.

ESB workers are now trying to restore power to more than 2,000 homes.

Homes were cut off in the Navan and Drogheda areas following thunder and lightning storms this afternoon.

It is not yet known when power will be restored but crews will be working hard throughout the evening.
