Clonmel: Post mortem confirms stabbing as cause of death

The post mortem results of 21-year old Jamie Lonergan, who died in Clonmel on Thursday night, have confirmed that he died from multiple stab wounds.

Superintendent Dick Bourke said that Mr Lonergan died a violent death as a result of many puncture wounds through the chest and head area.

He said that Garda technical experts are still examining Kelly's Field in Clonmel, where the body was found, for evidence and the murder weapon.

"Our divisional search team is combing the area. We would appeal to anybody who finds anything which they may think linked to this case to contact the garda station," he said.
