Wexford farmers to oppose rail closure

Farmers in Co Wexford are to meet tonight to discuss their opposition to Iarnrod Eireann's plans to close the rail link between Rosslare and Limerick Junction.

Farmers in Co Wexford are to meet tonight to discuss their opposition to Iarnrod Eireann's plans to close the rail link between Rosslare and Limerick Junction.

The Irish Farmers' Association said the move will adversely affect 500 farmers in the south of the county.

It said farmers' livelihoods will be threatened because the closure will affect the viability of sugar beet transportation.
