Firefighters stoned in Dublin

Firefighters in Dublin were stoned by a gang of youths last night when they were called to tackle a Hallowe'en bonfire in the Macken Street area.

The gang also threw missiles at gardai who were called to the scene.

The fire brigade responded to scores of calls last night to quell bonfires which had raged out of control.
