The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has said its members are facing severe disruption if postmasters press ahead with planned industrial action in protest at pay and conditions.

ISME said the Irish Postmasters' Union's proposal to close 600 sorting offices for two days every week between now and Christmas could have a detrimental effect on company cash-flow because many firms receive payments by post.
