Brennan announces details of penalty points system

Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has announced details of the penalty points system for motorists, which is due to come into force on Thursday.

Under the system, anyone caught speeding will be fined €80 and have two points added to their licence. A delay in payment of the fine will see it increased to €120, with a further two points added to the motorist's licence.
