ESB: Homes will not be connected until morning

The ESB say that 15,000 homes of the 40,000 left without power after last nights storms have now been reconnected. However, not all homes are expected have power until tomorrow.

Nonetheless, ESB say that the majority of its customers will be up and running by nightfall.

Spokesperson Kevin McDermott says that workers will attempt at first light tomorrow to restore power but that small pockets of rural areas would still be without power this evening.

Nearly 10,000 homes will still be without electricity by dinnertime and most of these will be in the Wicklow area.
