Police recover loaded weapon in Co Antrim

Police in Northern Ireland have recovered a loaded handgun following a search in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

The gun was discovered shortly before 11am this morning at the rear of houses in the predominantly protestant Rathcoole area. No arrests have been made.

It's the second weapon's find in the estate this week.

On Tuesday a quantity of weapons including ten guns, two pipe bombs and a booby-trap device were recovered from a loft in a house on the estate.

Detectives believe those weapons belonged to the Ulster Defence Association, Northern Ireland's largest loyalist terror organisation.
