New judges appointed to Flood Tribunal

The Government has appointed three new judges to the Flood Tribunal, eight months after first announcing the appointments.

Judge Alan Mahon and Judge Mary Faherty were appointed as full members of the tribunal today, while Judge Gerald Keys was appointed as a reserve member.

The appointments will take effect next week.

Tribunal chairman Justice Fergus Flood requested extra members in June 2001 due to his heavy workload, but the Government claimed it was having difficulty finding interested parties.
