Cowen congratulates Murphy on appointment

The Minister for Foreign Affairs has congratulated Paul Murphy on his appointment as the new Northern Secretary.

The Minister says he looks forward to working with him in the years ahead. Brian Cowen also congratulated Dr Reid on his appointment by Prime Minister Blair to the post of Labour Party Chairman.

He did express his regret that Dr Reid is leaving Northern Ireland however.
