Taoiseach assured of Sellafield safety after 9/11

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has told the Dáil that he was assured a safety review took place at the Sellafield nuclear plant following last year's terror attacks on the US.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has told the Dáil that he was assured a safety review took place at the Sellafield nuclear plant following last year's terror attacks on the US.

Mr Ahern was responding to questions about the Government's current legal efforts to force British Nuclear Fuels Ltd to reveal information about the Sellafield plant.

Mr Ahern also told the Dáil he hopes to raise the issue of security at Sellafield during talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair at Friday's European Council meeting in Brussels.
