A man remains in hospital this morning following a shooting in a pub in Inchicore, Dublin last night.

A man remains in hospital this morning following a shooting in a pub in Inchicore, Dublin last night.

The victim, who is believed to be in his sixties, was sitting drinking in the pub when he was attacked by a lone gunman.

The man was believed to have been drinking on his own in the pub around 9pm, when the lone assailant walked in and blasted him with a sawn-off shotgun.

The gunman then ran out of the pub and made his getaway.

Gardai were called to the scene and the victim was taken to St James' hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardai have been posted at the hospital in case any further attempt is made on the man's life.
