The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, is reported to be considering a number of options to investigate the handling of child sexual abuse cases in the Dublin Diocese.

Mr McDowell has told the Irish Times that a commission with statutory powers was one option under consideration.

Meanwhile, there have been renewed calls for the gardai to begin a full investigation into the actions of the Diocese in its handling of child sexual abuse.
